Summer fun at Belvoir Castle

Flowers, fireworks and open-air theatre are all part of the programme of events taking place at Belvoir Castle this summer.

Located on the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, Belvoir Castle has something for adults and children alike to enjoy throughout June, July and August.

Belvoir Garden and Flower Festival takes place on July 13 and 14, set on the banks of the Belvoir upper lake with panoramic views of Belvoir Castle and the surrounding Capability Brown parkland landscape. Visitors can enjoy a quintessential British day out packed with garden inspiration and ideas. There will be specialist plant growers, garden furniture, sculpture artists, show gardens, border displays, tools and crafts, as well as expert horticulturalists o hand to answer gardening questions.

They include Paula Routledge, Alan Mason, Nick Hamilton, Mark Smith, Karen Gimson, Andrew Fisher Tomlin, and Professor David Stevens.

Then, on August 10, Belvoir Castle plays host to Firework Champions, now in its sixth year.

Three of the UK's best firework companies will compete against each other with a ten-minute firework display choreographed to music, followed by a finale display from organisers MLE Pyrotechnics.

The event is the only one of its kind in the UK where the audience has the capability to vote for the team they liked the most using their mobile phone.

On August 20 the first-ever open-air theatre will take place withing the grounds at Belvoir Castle. Step back in time and enjoy a performance of the Jane Austen classic, Pride and Prejudice, by Chapterhouse Theatre Company.

This summer, visitors can also explore Capability Brown;s lost gardens at Belvoir Castle with the launch of brand new tours. Following a two-year restoration programme led by the 11th duchess, which cleared over 500 acres of woodland and brought the lost plans of the renowned English landscape architect to life, the brand new open top trailer tours take in the stunning vistas of the Belvoir Estate.

Tours start from £10 per person, with the option to add a delicious food hamper, and can be booked in advance by emailing: reception@belvoircastle.com
