The California Walnut Commission (CWC), established in 1987, represents the California walnut industry made up of over 4,800 growers and close to 100 handlers. The CWC is mainly involved in health research and export market development activities. More than 99% of the walnuts produced in U.S. are grown in the fertile soils of California. Internationally, California Walnuts supply close to two-thirds of the world’s walnut trade.

Sian Porter, Consultant Dietitian to California Walnuts, is available for expert comment on the nutritional benefits of walnuts and as a plant-based alternative to meat.

Sian is a registered dietitian with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and an MSc in Health Economics. Sian has worked in the field of clinical nutrition and health promotion in both acute and public health medicine and in the pharmaceutical and food industry.

Sian’s particular field of interest and expertise lies in communicating nutritional science in a meaningful, practical and achievable way that is appealing, understandable and useful.
