All politicians should watch Darkest Hour

Every year at this time there is gloom and doom in the news, enhanced by the dark evenings, grey skies and cold weather coming at us from across the Atlantic, Scandanavia or the Siberian wastes, and for me Arsenal being knocked out of the FA Cup. Yet most of is are lucky enough to survive the winter blues each year, which probably means we shouldn't have worried about it in the first place.

Politicians cause much more of the depression by scoring points off each other and thereby scaring many peopple. If only they would stop acting as though everything was on the edge ofdisaster and come up wth some positive suggestions and determination to get results.

I recommend all politicians and public servants should cumpulsorily watch the film Darkest Hour which was released in UK cinemas in mid-January.

The situation when Sir Winston Churchill became Prime Minister was a genuine crisis. The Second World War generation of leaders and Uk citizens didn't get 300,000 men back from Dunkirk, stand firm and survuve the Blitz or suffer the defeats and setbacks leading up to the victory at AI Alamein at the end of 1942 by negatively shouting disaster.

Maybe the example of our parents' and grandparents' generations could inspire todays leaders to cease their vocabulary of  crisis and disaster and reagrd our problems as challenges to be met and overcome.

If governments of whichever hue fail to find solutions or just throw our money at situations ineffecively, then we should vote 'em out.
