YMYR update: Plans to raise Probate fees abandoned

Controversial plans to raise Probate fees, which we reported on in the May issue of Choice are to be scrapped.  Fees had been due to rise from £155 or £215 to up to £20,000 for larger estates in England and Wales from May. However, following the announcement of the General Election, the Ministry of Justice said there was not enough time for the legislation to be enacted. We apologise for any confusion, but unfortunately the magazine had gone to press when this U-turn was announced.
