Shropshire Day 3

Shropshire Day 3

The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow has been operating since 1670 and its half-timbered façade is certainly the most recognisable in the Shropshire town. Many parts of the hotel are original including the studded front door. But after a £2.7m overhaul some essentials are up to date like the wiring, plumbing and guest rooms. Mine is a great mix of old and new with diamond paned window that are part of that famous façade and a floor with a bit of a hump and a slope but a fabulous bathroom and décor.

But with Ludlow the food capital of England, the hotel’s restaurant is striving for recognition from the awarders of rosettes. We will be bringing you some of the culinary creations we ate in the January magazine. Clive Nicholls usually takes pictures of his meals while I tuck in to mine. Here he is hard at work photographing a main course. Unfortunately, he thought my choice was the most photogenic and I had to wait until he finished – not a quick process – until I could get to taste it.

Last day tomorrow!
