Spring has sprung!

Snowdrops have been a bit late this year in my neck of the woods, but with the daffodils making rapid progress now, the inspiration to get out in the garden is giving me a spring in my step. Or rather Mrs. Wright's step to be more accurate.

This will be the second season since creating our own garden from scratch . It should be even better this year.

I want to make sure we enjoy it to the full, even when it isn't pleasant enough to sit outside. To that end we are rearranging our sitting room for a better view through the French window.

As soon as there's a mild spell I'm planning to make sure I soak up the fruits pf Mrs. Wright's labours with a cup of tea or glass of wine and make sure she stops gardening for a moment to savour it, too.

We want to enjoy the bird life as well as the plants. There's a full roster of the varieties of common garden birds and we have already seen song thrushes perched on the wall with red kites and buzzards circling above and woodpeckers in the neighbouring trees. There will be house martins and swallows to look forward to.

I won't just be sitting down, though. I'm planning to make a better job of my raised veg beds this year and organise the greenhouse a bit better. The tomatoes and cucumbers did well last year but the makeshift supports I provided let them down- literally.

But I better not make any more garden pledges for now... in case she reads this.
